Forgotten Bags

Here is something sad.

Verse 1
You pack my bags and set them by the door,
Nothing could capture my disappointment more,
Like the sight of a forgotten bag,
Holding all that I once held dear.
You fail to see the traces of sorrow you’ve left to me
I wait outside your door, sleeping in the stairwell,
Left alone in this bustling city,
Hoping against hope, still I dwell.

Chorus
But you’ve buried our love deep,
I sit before its grave, naive and lost,
Wishing for a sign, a flicker of life,
While you hide away, leaving me to frost.
How can you be so cold, so cruel?
I wonder as the tears blur my sight,
Out of tissues, I’m drowning in sorrow,
In this endless, lonely night.

Verse 2
You misunderstand me, can’t you see?
I can’t believe you’d do this to me,
The light flickers on and off in the hall,
Residents pass by, like I’m nothing at all.
I thought I was over you, swore I’d be fine,
But here I am, begging, lost in time.
You said to come, to share in your space,
Now I’m on the floor, pleading for grace.

Bridge
One last look into your eyes,
I long to see your soul, to understand,
But you just shake your head,
With pity, you leave me to stand.
I wanted to help, to never let go,
Now I’m left hanging, feeling so low.
You asked me to come, but now I’m alone,
One door separates us, but I feel so far away from.
