When the blue fades into black,
And the streetlights turn on,
Footsteps disappear along the track,
As the nightingale sings its song
I am walking here alone,
where the hope has gone.
Underneath the pale moon,
I hope i will see you soon
It’s getting colder and colder
As the night pulls me closer,
It’s getting darker and darker
as the edge of a black marker.
The moon gets covered by clouds,
Casting shadows, shrouded in doubts.
A whistle is in the air, trying to keep a secret,
in its pockets, its ink starts to leak.
I leave a message, a silent trace,
On every surface, in every place.
Like other strays who roam the night,
In a shelter in the absence of light.
I try to hide in the dark,
between trees in the park,
With every step that I take
My shadows betray me, leaving a trace
All I can see is a dark silhouette,
A shadowed shape I won’t forget
Lurking around, my heart starts to race
Should I be afraid or can I feel safe?
Please don’t leave me behind this fall,
I need a sign from you, just one call,
Even if I have lost my phone, I search every booth,
In a long, dark coat, hat pulled low, I’m seeking proof.
You stand at the roadside, like a stalker
My hands seek safety in the pockets
Please give me a hint, my secret lover.
Otherwise I’ll break open the locker
All I want is certainty
that don’t blur the clarity
All I want is to hold me close
I need this warmth, as my daily dose
A match falls softly to the ground,
Leaving echoes, a gentle sound.
In your hands, a flame you guard,
A flickering light, a glowing heart.
You stand before me,
Yet the awe is too great.
In your gaze lies a secret,
That leaves me to hesitate.
I just feel too embarrassed,
I’m trying to cover it,
But I only make it worse,
And more awkward with each bit.
I wonder how you handle this,
how you turn the dark into bliss.
In your presence, I feel so small,
Please don’t let me fall.
Where did you get your matches?
Mine always seem to burn out.
I strike a spark that never catches,
While I’m left in flicker of doubt.
What do I do with the burnt-out matches,
I toss them aside as memories of the past.
So many attempts that couldn’t last,
Each spark a flicker, that went out too fast.
