A few years ago, I bought a book on urban sketching, and it has been a great source of motivation for me. But drawing architecture is quite a challenge for me.
Photography has long been my companion in exploration while traveling through various places, allowing me to freeze moments in time.
However, I feel a growing desire to dive deeper into the world of urban sketching – a practice that invites me to engage with my surroundings in a more intimate and expressive way.
Urban sketching is not just about replicating what I see; it’s about capturing the essence of a place and the fleeting atmosphere that surrounds it.
With a sketchbook in hand, I envision myself wandering through the city, pausing to observe the world around me. I want to sketch not only the striking architecture that defines our urban landscape but also the everyday scenes that breathe life into it. A couple sharing a moment on a park bench, a street vendor engaging with passersby, or the fleeting expressions of people as they navigate their day – these nuances make a city feel alive.
My goal is to create a visual diary of my city or others one that captures not just the sights, but the sounds, smells, and feelings that make each moment unique.
In a world that often feels hurried, urban sketching offers a chance to pause and appreciate the beauty of the fleeting.
