lover

I am currently thinking of an idea for illustrations featuring three (four) personifications, each represented within a picture frame on a side table and shows a lover.

Mr. Stress …is dressed in a shirt and carrying a laptop bag, on his way to work. He looks frantic, perhaps glancing at his watch as he tries to juggle everything. He is caffeine-dependent and drinks a lot of coffee. Yet, he is successful.

Mr. Blues …might appear worn out. He drowns his sorrows in alcohol and is in despair. Perhaps there are empty bottles around him, symbolizing his loneliness and struggle with addiction. There’s a trash bin overflowing with crumpled tissues. And there are unfinished paintings that he never completed, and a harmonica that signifies comfort and a way out.

Mr. Anxiety …could be depicted as nervous or panicked, trembling in a room filled with notes and demons that haunt him. He might also be shown running away from a shadowy figure representing death, or being constantly stalked by the specter of death.

These 3 lovers are three companions, like life partners, with whom one journeys through life. Just as one might stay in a toxic romantic relationship due to fear of loneliness or the hope of change. The familiarity of stress, anxiety, and sadness can feel safer than the unknown.

This can create a paradox where you feel a sense of love or appreciation for these emotions, even while recognizing their negative impact. We may feel drawn to them or find them familiar, even if they are not healthy. This reflects the idea that we can have a love-hate relationship with our emotions.

And then there is also a true lover – the ‘in love’ lover.

Mr. In Love … actually you, while you adore someone, to whom you write love letters, and whom you think about all the time, unable to stop thinking about him. This lover wears sunglasses made of heart shapes. There’s a music player and music notes (representing love songs). This person is in daydreaming while looking at a photo of his beloved. he could be holding a rose or a bouquet of flowers, symbolizing his affection.
