In a dimly lit room filled with the scent of ink and paper, there lived a writer. One evening, as he sat at his desk, he pondered the bittersweet nature of memory. He once lived in shades of blue, longing for the days when melancholy inspired his art. He wished to embrace those feelings again. Though those times were gone, the memories lingered like whispers in the night. He wished to embrace that bittersweet feeling again, to “kiss the blue.”
The drink balances the bittersweet flavors beautifully. It has a blend Blue Curacao with a hint of green tea’s bitterness, a splash of coconut for warmth, and a touch of vanilla for sweetness. Each sip would evoke nostalgia, allowing to savor the beauty of the past while celebrating the present. In this drink, the blues would transform into a bittersweet reminder of life’s complexities.
Kiss the Blue
Ingredients:
1 cup brewed green tea (cooled)
1/2 cup blueberry juice
A handful of fresh blueberries
1-2 oz coconut water or coconut milk (choose based on your preference)
1-2 tablespoons vanilla syrup (to taste)
1 oz blue curaçao syrup (for color and sweetness)
1 piece of very dark chocolate (99% cacao), melted
Ice cubes
Fresh mint leaves (for garnish, optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Green Tea: Brew green tea and let it cool. You can chill it in the refrigerator for faster cooling.
Melt the Chocolate: Gently melt the dark chocolate in a microwave or double boiler until smooth. Allow it to cool slightly.
Mix the Ingredients: In a shaker or large glass, combine the cooled green tea, blueberry juice, coconut water or milk, vanilla syrup, and blue curaçao syrup. Stir well to combine.
Add Fresh Blueberries: Gently fold in the fresh blueberries.
Add Chocolate: Drizzle the melted dark chocolate into the mixture, stirring gently to create a marbled effect. If you want a stronger chocolate flavor, you can add more melted chocolate.
Serve: Fill a glass with ice cubes and pour the mixture over the ice.
Garnish: Optionally, garnish with fresh mint leaves and a few whole blueberries on top.
Enjoy: Stir before drinking to mix the flavors and enjoy your bittersweet “Kiss the Blue” drink!
Theoretically, rum would go well with it, but I drink it without alcohol. I still need to find the optimal balance of the ingredients. I’m afraid the recipe might still be too sweet. I will remix the recipe and let you know how it tastes. I chose the ingredients purely based on my feelings and my favorite flavors. If it turns out well, I will also create a guide with drawn illustrations.
I haven’t tried it yet. I’m a bit scared of it. It’s non-alcoholic. I’m afraid not only of the drink but also of the blue feelings. I don’t know if I could go through that again. Right now, I would only take small sips; in the past, I would have downed the whole drink with a strong alcohol mix and other ingredients, like ‘Kiss of Death.’ Literally.
